ABOUT YVONNE
Growing up, art was an extra curricular activity everybody did after school. We did everything - drawing, painting, 3D sculptures, you name it. Ever since I could remember, I was fascinated with creating and I looked forward to those classes every day.
That passion & inspiration followed me throughout middle school & high school. Nobody was surprised when I decided to go to art school where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Massachusetts College of Art & Design. I fell in love with the landscape of New England and spent my years there documenting my hikes & treks. As the kids call it these days, I fell in love with “touching grass”.
But as life moved on, my photography faded into occasional Instagram posts, and my sketches became scattered doodles in the margins of my journals. I drifted away from regular creation, and the spark I once felt seemed to fade.
Determined to rekindle it, I returned to the places that made me feel alive—out in nature. While Hong Kong’s landscapes felt different from New England’s, I was determined to seek out its beauty. Slowly, between touching grass and finding inspiration in the world and people around me, I picked up my pencil and sketchbook again.
Today, my art—like my photography—is an attempt to capture the moments, emotions, and memories of every day life. From exploring new landscapes to enjoying oysters with my friends, I aim to create a snap shot of that moment and share that with the world.
